Wings And Tacos – 2 New Restaurants Coming To Augusta
Every time you turn around, it seems new businesses are popping up all over the place. Some businesses close or move to a new location, and leave us wondering what will fill that spot. And now, there are 2 new restaurants coming to Augusta that we’re excited to see filling empty spaces. If you love wings or tacos, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for when these new spots open!
New Restaurants Coming To Augusta
There are many new restaurants that have opened or will be opening soon in the Augusta area. It seems we hear news every week of some new spot popping up. We are fortunate to have so many great options and varieties of food locations to enjoy.
And while I’m sure there are other restaurants opening soon… these two are places that I’m excited to try out myself, because wings and tacos are two of my favorite food groups. I’m always on the hunt for the best wings and the best tacos/queso/margarita combo!
Touch Down Wings
Up first, there’s a new spot for chicken wings. Touch Down Wings will be opening soon on Wrightsboro Road. It’s next to Walmart in Augusta and will fill the void left behind by Baldinos Giant Jersey Subs.
As someone who enjoys wings, I’m excited to give these wings a try. Touch Down Wings features 30 wing flavors including juicy cajun garlic, flamin’ hot, spicy lemon pepper, spicy ranch, honey BBQ, and more. You can get traditional or boneless wings, served with celery, carrots, and blue cheese or ranch dressing.
For me, I like both traditional and boneless wings, but boneless tend to be my go-to because they’re easier to eat and less messy. As for sauce, I prefer variations of buffalo/hot sauce. If I do try wings here, I’m more than likely going to stick with the more traditional flavors. And now veggies or dressing for me.
Touch Down Wings is an Atlanta-based restaurant that has multiple locations throughout Georgia, in addition to locations in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama, and Pennsylvania.
In addition to wings, Touch Down Wings serves chicken tenders, Philly steak sandwiches, seafood, burgers, and fried rice dishes.
Touch Down Wings was first opened in 2017 by Jay Yang and Jeremy Lin after seeing the demand for chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Augusta location is one of a few that will be opening in Georgia this year. Learn more about Touch Down Wings HERE.
El Paso Tacos & Tequila
As someone who could eat chips and queso and tacos every day, I was excited to learn about this new restaurant coming to downtown Augusta. El Paso Tacos & Tequila will be opening in the former Mellow Mushroom location on Broad Street.
El Paso Tacos & Tequila serves a mix of authentic and Tex-Mex cuisine. The restaurant features a full tequila bar and hand crafted margaritas.
The first location opened in 2020 in Valdosta, Georgia. Since then they have opened in many other locations, including in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and South Carolina. The second Georgia location that was opened isn’t too far down the road from Augusta in Athens.
Augusta is one of at least 3 more locations coming soon. They also plan to open another restaurant in Louisiana and expand to a location in North Carolina.
The business is family-owned, and they maintain a strong connection to their roots with made-from-scratch, genuine family recipes.
According to Augusta Business Daily, the family hopes to open the restaurant by mid-May.
I’ve looked at their website and social media, and I have already decided that I’m going to have to do a taste test on their variety of margaritas. But that might have to be over the course of multiple visits!
