Atlanta Falcons Fire Head Coach & General Manager
After a 0-5 start this season, Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff have been fired. The move comes after the Falcons’ loss to the Carolina Panthers yesterday (10/11).
According to a statement from the Falcons, CEO Rich McKay will oversee day-to-day operations during the search for a new coach. For the rest of the year, Dimitroff’s duties will be handled by current members of the football operations staff.
“Decisions like these are very difficult, but the previous two seasons and start to this one have been especially hard for me because of the deep love, admiration and respect I and my family have for Dan, Thomas and their families,” said Falcons owner Arthur Blank. “Our finish in 2019 earned an opportunity to show that momentum could be continued and built upon, but that has clearly not happened.”
Per ESPN, candidates for the interim coach position include assistant head coach/linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, both former head coaches of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
