Dennis Rodman’s Rocky Relationship with Daughter Trinity
Dennis Rodman is no stranger to controversies. From his aggressive playing to his off-court antics, the NBA Hall of Famer has lived a life full of highs and lows. If you’ve been a fan of “The Worm,” you’ll know how colorful his personal life is. From high-profile marriages (and divorces) to headline-making moments (such as befriending North Korea’s dictator, Kim Jong-Un), Rodman always finds a reason to be in the news.
Recently, Rodman’s in the news again because of his relationship with his daughter Trinity Rodman, a professional soccer player and Olympic gold medalist, from his marriage to Michelle Moyer.
Trinity’s Call Her Daddy Podcast Interview
Alex Cooper recently interviewed Trinity for her podcast. She mentioned how Rodman was an absent father while she was growing up. Trinity said, “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else. Hearing his voice is painful,” per CNN.
She added, “Me and my brother have been very generous with the way that we’ve talked about it and very unselfish. We never want to make him look bad and that is at the cost of holding in a lot of issues that we’ve gone through and trauma.” The Washington Spirit star acknowledges her father’s fight with “his demons” and how because of his childhood, “He never understood that people could actually just want to be around him and just want to make him happy,” according to E! News.
Trinity also said during the interview (per People) that they tried to stay with Rodman, but her mother Moyer saw how damaging it is for Trinity and her brother DJ to be around their father, given his lifestyle. “We tried to live with him, but he’s having parties 24/7. He’s bringing random bitches in. My mom didn’t want — she was strong enough to deal with it because even to this day, I still believe that my dad hasn’t loved anyone after my mom.”
Dennis Rodman’s Response
Rodman replied by posting on his Instagram, though it appears the post has since been deleted. However, Just Women’s Sports captured a screenshot of it. Check it out here.
However, fans thought that his lengthy apology didn’t sound like an apology at all and how he’s being a “gaslighter.” One commenter wrote, “Wild of him to prove her right so loudly.” Another commenter even pointed out that Dennis Rodman should not apologize on social media. “But why post this to your IG? You can just send her that directly.”
