I Put My Cat In A Onesie And Here’s What Happened
I Put My Cat In A Onesie And Here’s What Happened. Yes, you read that right. This is Melissa from The Getup Crew and I am the certifiable “cat lady” of the show. I have two cats, Butters and Toast. Toast is a 4 year old tabby. Butters is a 10 year old, 17 pound orange cat. Both are rescues and I love them dearly.
Recently, Butters had a bit of a health scare. The vet found what she thought was a tumor on her stomach, near one of her nipples. She recommended surgery to remove it. I took Butters to another vet for a second opinion. She agreed, however, she did feel the mass was small enough that it may just be some fatty tissue. Either way, surgery was recommended and that surgery happened earlier this week.
I brought Butters to Apple Tree Animal Hospital in Hopkinton, New Hampshire where the vet and vet techs took amazing care of her. The “mass” has been removed and has been sent out for a biopsy. Results will take up to a week to get so any positive thoughts are appreciated.
After the surgery, it is imperative that animals with stitches wear the infamous cone so they don’t lick or eat or chew the stitches off. This could cause infection and the stitches to come out too early and a possible second surgery could be needed. Butters did NOT like the cone. She was walking into the wall, wouldn’t eat and would just sit there. It was awful watching her and I just knew she was miserable. Many of you recommended the “cat onesie.” This is similar to a baby onesie where it’s just a piece of clothing that goes over the body, covering up the stitches. The only problem is, Butters is plus size and they only go up to a large in size.
I didn’t think to get a dog one. I simply bought the biggest size cat one I could find. The result? One unhappy and smothered kitty. She looked like I look when I try to put on SKIMS or SPANX. They really need to make plus size cat clothing. That’ll be my next venture. More inclusive cat clothing for all! Enjoy the picture and videos.
