Frito-Lay Is Adding 20% More Chips to Its Bags. If you’re a junk food junkie, we got some good news for you. Frito-Lay has announced they will be adding 20% more chips to their bags of chips. This is amazing news seeing as when you open bags of chips you usually just see a big chunk of air on top. If you ask us, this change is long overdue.
A 2021 study found one version of Tostitos had dropped from 13 ounces a bag to 11 ounces. Another dropped from 12 to 11. There were similar issues with Ruffles, which are also Frito-Lay. In the quarterly earnings call, executives at Frito-Lay made the announcement calling it “bonus bags.” Now it’s important to note, it’s NOT happening with all of their products. The ones mentioned by name were: Tostitos, Ruffles, and Doritos.
These “bonus” bags will also be sold at only select locations. They didn’t name the locations but be on the lookout. Some of their variety-packs are getting bigger too. Ones that normally have 16 bags will now have 18. Let’s hope other food companies will follow suit!
