A rumor has been circulating that Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion would be remaking Halle Berry and Natalie Desselle Reid’s 1997 film B.A.P.S. However, the Bronx rapper had no idea that such a thing was occurring and addressed the rumor on Twitter.

“I don’t even know where that rumor even came about…,” Cardi wrote. “Maybe because we looked soo cute in the Wap video?”

What possibly prompted the rumor to circulate on social media was an interview that the director, Robert Townsend did with Slash Films.

“There are people that love, love, love the film and some people that didn’t get it. And those that love it—like you love it and you get it—I’ve had people go, ‘Hey, we want to do a remake,'” he said. “Everybody from Megan Thee Stallion to Cardi B is like, ‘Could we do…’ I mean, it’s like, I don’t know.”

Although it doesn’t look as if Cardi and Megan are on the books for a new version of B.A.P.S. (or if the film, in general, has been greenlit for a remake), Megan has increasingly been adding to her acting portfolio. Last year, the “Traumazine” rapper guest starred in STARZ’s P-Valley as her alter ego, Tina Snow. She revealed to The Cut that she auditioned for the lead role of Mercedes. However, that role ended up going to Brandee Evans.  “I was just coming up, and I read for Mercedes, but seeing Brandee play Mercedes, I’m like, obviously, I was not here yet. She’s so perfect for that role.” Megan also appeared on Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law last year.

She also be making her film debut in A24’s first-ever musical, F—ing Identical Twins, which is a “subversive spin on The Parent Trap.” The release date for F—ing Identical Twins has yet to be announced.
