Why Do People Hate Kim Kardashian?
Why do people hate Kim Kardashian so much? I found myself wondering this after seeing people boo her as she took the stage at the Roast of Tom Brady.
Personally, I don’t necessarily like or dislike her. I don’t watch any of the shows she’s on and I don’t know her personally, so I don’t have much to go on, other than her photos. Of which, if I’m being honest, I’m a fan.
However, that doesn’t give me enough of an opinion about her to cheer or boo.
I decided to do some research of my own to get some answers. So, I took to Facebook and asked, simply, “why do people hate Kim Kardashian?” The responses surprised me. Well, some of them.
The people who gave reasons why they dislike her mentioned that she’s fake, they don’t know why she’s famous, generally just being over the Kardashians and because Taylor Swift. So, let’s address some of this…
“She’s Fake”
I’m not 100% clear on what kind of fakeness we’re talking about. You’d pretty much need to know her on a personal basis to know if she puts on a fake persona in public. But, most people do. Case-in-point: I’m a completely different person when I’m at home draining a magnum of merlot in my doggie pajama pants than I am at work. Does it mean I’m fake? I don’t think so. I think it just means that you have your public personality and you have your at-home personality. When you’re responsible for several multi-million dollar brands, I’d expect a bit of “fakeness” to be involved.
If the “fake” is in reference to her “enhanced” appearance, you’re gonna have to start hating a LOT more people.
“I Don’t Know Why She’s Famous”
This is hardly a reason to dislike someone. There are plenty of people who I don’t think should be famous. But, they are and here’s the cool thing: Those famous people are easy for me to avoid. However, here are a few reasons why she is famous:
She starred on a show that ran for fourteen years and was so successful that it spawned 15 spin-offs, she appeared in a few movies, several TV shows, modeled for many different fashion companies, created her own fashion lines, published a book, released an app and appeared on some reality competition shows.
“People Are Over The Kardashians”
Again, it’s easy to avoid things that you don’t enjoy. I’ve seen zero episodes of their show in the seventeen years of it’s existence.
“Taylor Swift”
This one, I get. Kim got caught up in some drama between Taylor and (her then-husband) Kanye West (now Ye). To be clear, I’m not taking a side, here. I just love playing devil’s advocate. I’m a big Taylor Swift fan and she has every right to be upset with Kim’s actions. But, I’m sure Kim had a difficult time navigating many of Kanye’s episodes during their marriage.
Maybe Kim Kardashian Isn’t So Bad
So, hear me out: Maybe there are some reasons to not hate Kim Kardashian. Sure, her initial rise to fame was a little sketch. But, what has she done with her fame? The answer: Plenty.
She’s donated money to many causes, including several women’s causes, she’s donated millions of dollars and clothing to children living in poverty, to the Armenia Fund, the Children’s Hospital of L.A., the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and many others. ScreenRant.com says that she donates ten percent of her income annually. With a net worth of $1.8 billion, that’s a lot of dough!
She’s also successfully worked with some U.S. presidents on some very important projects, including prison reform and clemency.
I can think of far better people to boo.
