This South Carolina Hot Dog Stand Is The Best
Fishing Supplies, Bait, And Hot Dogs
On my way home to Seneca to visit family, I passed this small bait shop with a sign that reads Saxons Hotdogs. Hmmm, hot dogs and bait. I always thought this is something I have to try one day….the hot dogs, not the bait. I was about to discover this South Carolina Hot Dog Stand Is The Best. Located in Abbeville, S.C. That one day was this past Friday, as I was out exploring and getting lost on backroads. It was perfect timing; just before lunch, the dirt parking lot was full of pickups and a few 18-wheelers.
Hard Work And Hot Dogs
I’ve always heard that if you see a lot of worker’s trucks at a restaurant, try it because these people are out every day and know a good lunch spot. So far, I have found that is true.
So I pull in, and it’s even smaller than it looks from the outside. The menu looked simple. Hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks. Also, breakfast sandwiches and bar-b-que; best I could tell, everyone was there for the hot dogs. Two Dogs, Chips, And A Coke
I waited in line for about 5 minutes, and the young guy at the register was super nice and took my order. Two dogs, chips, and a Diet Coke.
Four minutes later, and with a small bill of 6 dollars, I was out the door and eating my lunch in my truck. Many of the workers were using their tailgates as picnic tables. The hot dogs were great. Steamed bun and great chili. The service was great and the atmosphere was great. Small town, country store.Boiled Peanuts, Too
They sell fishing supplies, bait, hot dogs, and boiled peanuts. But you have to try the hot dogs.
By the way, this has been a family-owned business since 1956.An Easy Drive
I’ll be back. It’s worth the hour and 9-minute drive from North Augusta.381 Highway 72 W, Abbeville, SC
