Gunna Breaks His Silence On Relationship With Young Thug
Gunna has broken his silence on where he currently stands with Young Thug. Speaking to XXL, the rapper said that his relationship with Thug is not how it is perceived online.
“It’s the same. It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship,” he said.
Thug is currently still behind bars after his May 2022 arrest as he was part of the 28 men affiliated with his Young Slime Life collective. The men, including Gunna, were charged in a 56-count RICO case. Prosecutors argue that YSL is not just a collective of musical artists but a violent street gang that has been connected to murders and other violent crimes for over a decade.
Gunna Breaks His Silence On Relationship With Young Thug: Snitch Allegations
After Gunna took a plea deal in December 2023, the rapper was labeled a snitch by many of his fellow collaborators, including Lil Baby, 21 Savage, and Lil Durk. He addressed the allegations on his first song out of jail “Bread & Butter.”
In the second verse, he defends himself against the rumors. He calls out what role others played in his release. “F— I pay the lawyers all those mills for?/ Just so I won’t have to say a word to dodge a railroad,” he raps, before echoing past sentiments on him not being a rat. “Never gave no statement or agreed to take no stand on ’em/ On whatever you n—– on, then trust me, I’ma stand on it/ Lawyers and the D.A. did some sneaky s—, I fell for it/ On my Ps and Qs because this time, I be prepared for it.”
The criminal justice system is not the only party that was called out in Gunna’s return. The rapper pointed a finger at Lil Baby, who Gunna says is in business with a snitch.
“Peepin’ s—, I’m seein’ n—– fall back/ You bitch-a– n—– got me as the topic of the chat/ You switched on me when you know you in business with a rat/ And the boy that’s like your brother, and nobody speak on that,” he raps about his “Drip Harder” collaborator.
The Atlanta rapper spoke on the snitching allegations in a statement after his release.
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” the rapper said in a statement following his release from jail.
