Rihanna sat down with Interview Magazine in a cover story published Tuesday (April 9) about what concepts she has fleshed out.
"My brain is working backward right now. I usually have the music first, and the music leads me into all of these visual opportunities, and now I’m having all of these visuals," she told the publication.
The singer also admitted that she doesn't have "songs for them yet."
However, she is hopeful that they will come to her, and it just might be that her process is different this time, adding that "maybe the visual ideas are leading me to the songs that I need to make."
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna Gives An Update About New Album 'R9'
A$AP also gave fans an update back in February, when he was approached by fans in New York. In a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), the "Fashion Killa" rapper was seen with a fan who asked about RiRi's long-awaited album, which fans dubbed R9.
"She’s working on it!" A$AP says, smiling and walking away. The fans began screaming with excitement over the news.
Her last album was Anti in 2018, which featured songs such as "Kiss It Better," "Needed Me," "Consideration," "Work," and more.
Rihanna On Relationship With A$AP Rocky
Besides talking about the new album, she spoke about how she enjoys motherhood and her partner, A$AP Rocky.
The "Diamonds" singer said she "didn’t know how it would come, but it is the best part of my journey so far. Everything else was a surprise."
Rihanna has two sons with A$AP Rocky. RZA, who is named after the Wu-Tang member, was born in 2022, and her youngest son, Riot Rose, was born in 2023.
The two have known each other for a long time, and Rihanna reminisced about them seeing each other in relationships with other people throughout the years. Rihanna has dated Chris Brown, Drake, Travis Scott and Matt Kemp. Prior to A$AP Rocky, she dated Hassan Jameel for two years. A$AP Rocky has been linked to Kendall Jenner, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, and Chanel Iman in the past.
RiRi broke the internet when she revealed she was pregnant during her Super Bowl performance last year. However, Rihanna is not opposed to growing their family a little bit more. When asked how many more kids she would want, the singer said that it is in God's hands, but she said she "would try for my girl. But of course, if it’s another boy, it’s another boy."
Rihanna is a Grammy-winning artist, mother, and style icon. There's not a red carpet where Rihanna is not listed as one of the best dressed, if not the best dressed. In 2015, she made history as the first Black woman to become the face of Dior. Fast forward four years later, Rihanna became the first black woman to run a major luxury fashion house with her own, Fenty. In 2021, she closed the venture as she focused on putting more capital into her intimates brand, Savage X Fenty.
In 2022, after having some of the most memorable looks at the Met Gala, it paid tribute to the singer with a digital statue of her placed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The statue accentuated her growing baby bump at the time as she was pregnant with her first son, RZA, with A$AP Rocky. It is also the pose she did for the publication's May 2022 cover.

The theme that year was "Charles James: Beyond Fashion." For her top, the singer wore a white long-sleeved cropped blouse cut on an angle with jewels on the collar. In the same material, the singer opted for a long skirt with minimal ruched detailing. Her hair was in an updo and pulled stylized with waves for an effortless effect.

The theme of that year's Gala was "China: Through The Looking Glass" and from head-to-toe Rihanna not only stayed on theme but was one of the best dressed of the night. She wore a short bustier topped dress with black and white pearls all-over. The jewels were then copied onto her long coat which had puffed sleeves and a cuffed wrist. Rihanna looked as though she bloomed from a garden with her pink and blue petaled dress. The dress ever so slightly showed off a part of her midriff and had patterns of pink, blue, and floral throughout. However, her makeup alone could have carried any dress. The over the top pink blush from the apples of her cheeks, into her eyebrows and over her eyelids was a masterpiece in its own.
