St. Patrick's Day is coming up. Of course, there will be a lot of celebrations, and some people will party pretty hard. But which states party the hardest on St. Patrick's Day? Did Georgia make the list? Well, there is a new study out that takes a look at these questions, and gives us some answers. I'm anxious to see if y'all will agree with the research or not.
St. Patrick's Day - States That Like To Party
According to a new survey from the website The Focus, these are the states that party the hardest on St. Patrick's. Here's how they got their info. They surveyed 2,000 Americans. One of the interesting things that I saw in the findings is that 44% of people planned to celebrate, while 56% said they weren't going to celebrate.
Apparently the national average for alcoholic beverages consumed on St. Pats is 3. A few states apparently consume more than the national average and that's what landed them on this list. So here we go, let's see which states topped the list with 5 alcoholic beverages consumed on St. Pats. Three states topped the list, and they are Alabama, Oklahoma and Kansas!
The next states on the list consume four alcoholic beverages on St. Pats and those states are Pennsylvania and Georgia! So to answer the question, yep Georgia is on the list. The next states consume the national average of three alcoholic beverages on St. Pats. This states are New Mexico, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Texas and North Carolina. Sorry to all of my friends across the river in South Carolina, apparently y'all don't party hard enough.
I don't know if I agree with this list, I'd love to know what y'all think about it.

History Of St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th every year. This date is the anniversary of the death of St. Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick was born in Roman Britain during the fifth century. But he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave when he was 16. He would later escape but still returned to Ireland.
St. Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. The Irish have observed March 17th as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. St. Patrick was believed to have died on March 17, 461.
After his death, many stories and legends have been passed down throughout generations. When it comes to the most popular story, it was St. Patrick explaining the Holy Trinity using the leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock.
The first St. Patrick's Day wasn't celebrated until the ninth or tenth century. And despite it being an Irish holiday, the first parade wasn't in Ireland. In fact, the first St. Patrick's Day parade was in America in what is now St. Augustine, Florida in 1601.
St. Patrick's Day Celebrations
Throughout the years, enthusiasm and Irish patriotism blossomed in the United States. This would lead to many "Irish Aid" societies who would host annual parades to celebrate the day. The biggest celebration with an annual parade now is in New York City, with more than 2 million spectators.
According to National Today, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in more countries in the world than any other national festival. And while some consider it a "holiday," it's not officially a holiday in the U.S.

St. Patrick's Day Parade - Downtown Augusta
Saturday, March 16th, 2024: The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade starts at 2 p.m. The route begins at 7th and Telfair Street. With ongoing construction on Broad Street, the City of Augusta has planned an alternate route for this year's parade. The parade will leave from the James Brown Arena parking lot on 7th Street. The parade will turn left on Telfair Street, then right on 11th Street. From there, the parade will take an immediate right onto Greene Street and end on 6th Street.
The parade is organized by the Irish American Heritage Society. It's a free event filled with fun, music, and great floats!
City of Augusta's St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Saturday, March 16th: After the parade, head to the Augusta Common for an afternoon and evening and fun for the whole family. From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. you can enjoy live entertainment, the Kids Zone, food, drinks and more!
St. Patrick's Day Party at Top Dawg Tavern
Sunday, March 17th: Top Dawg Tavern (2821 Washington Road, Augusta) is celebrating St. Patrick's Day with drink specials and Sunday Brunch until 4 p.m.

Saturday, March 16th: The ShamRock-and-Roll 2024 kicks off at 11 a.m. with the Golf Cart Parade, followed by the festival at the Harlem Library Plaza.
