Fort Eisenhower Encourages The Use Of A Different Gate For Time Being
Fort Eisenhower Directorate of Emergency Services is encouraging the public to not use Gate 1 for the time being and to use Gate 5 or Gate 6. Gate 1 is currently undergoing construction.
The Gate 1 road work started November 13 and will last until December 22, 2023.
There may be periodic single-lane closures during this time. The lane closures will be scheduled to minimize impact on inbound and outbound traffic during peak travel times.
* Updated times for lane closures to start at 9 a.m. for all lanes.*
Outbound lanes: 9 am – 3:30 pm
Inbound lanes: 9 am – 5 pm
From the Garrison Commander
“The purpose of this construction is to install a closer intersection point to enable quicker turnarounds and reduce delays when executing turnarounds…. I request your understanding as the construction will have impacts on inbound and outbound traffic…. I anticipate the greatest impact during lunch time peak hours. Our guards will still operate a full staff to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible. I recommend maximizing the use of gates 5 and 6 in addition to taking advantage of the on-post lunch options when able. ” COL Reginald Evans, Garrison Commander.
With the ongoing construction drivers are asked to be alert when entering and exiting the gate.
