Christian Louboutin Pulls A Mariah Carey When Asked About Cardi B
“I don’t know her.”
Though it wasn’t quite as harsh or non-factual as Mariah Carey‘s diss toward Jennifer Lopez, Christian Louboutin has to be at least a little bit informed about Cardi B‘s chart-topping hit “Bodak Yellow,” wouldn’t you think?
Sadly, not so much. Complex quotes the French designer, who responded to the reporter from the New York Times:
“She has the hair like that? … She’s a rapper? This ‘Yellow’ song? […] I don’t know much more than that, to be honest.”
Hopefully, Cardi B doesn’t take too much offense to the lack of knowledge, considering that she owns over 90 pairs according to her stylist. He told Billboard the following:
“The first time I was ever introduced to her shoe closet was in May, and at that point, she was running up on about 50 or 60 pairs (almost all are in size 36.5). And now…now she usually buys a pair or two every couple of weeks. Where she’s from, when girls are ready to get dressed up that’s what you wear. And in real life, before ‘Bodak’ blew up, she wore red bottoms because that’s what it means to make it in the Bronx. It’s a status symbol that the masses can relate to; everyday girls work hard and save up their money to have that shoe. Cardi did the same.”
Louboutin shard that he was open to meeting the rapper one day, and he said he felt that the call to his shoes in rap music is very much part of his origins. Complex shares the quote from NYT, “The first shoes I ever designed were for showgirls, people on stage. Showgirls have a kind of attitude—they’re driving forces.”
Though it’s rumored that Cardi B might be collaborating with designer Steve Madden in the near future on some shoes, I’m sure that she will still be rocking those Red Bottoms till the end of time.
Amy Cooper is one with the force and the force is with her.
