Cardi B’s Team Speaks Out Over False LAPD Story
Cardi B’s team is clearing up the rapper’s story about the LAPD accusing her of having drugs and having to strip naked in the search. Her management team had to do a bit of damage control.
In case you missed it: the Bronx rapper hopped on Instagram Live earlier this week and recounted the false incident, claiming law enforcement was accusing her of selling drugs until they realized who she was.
“They had all the helicopters in LA,” she said, per HipHopDX. “Yo, I was freaking out. They had me outside for like three hours. They had me getting butt-naked outside. S— was crazy. It was dead— a movie and whatever, but you already know.
That’s when the rapper told law enforcement who she was and threatened to sue due to the whole ordeal.
“I’m about to sue the LAPD. I told them like, ‘Yo, I’m Cardi B. Like, do I look like I gotta sell some s—? Like why would I do that? I would never pull no s— like that.'”
However, explaining who she was didn’t necessarily help as they were unfamiliar with her.
“They didn’t believe me. It was some white cops and they ain’t know who I was,” she concluded. “They was really tough on me and everything. They said somebody gave them a clue. I really feel like it was one of my opps and s—, like they really trying to ruin my life type s—. Like y’all don’t even f—— know. I been going through a lot lately.”
Cardi B’s Team Responds To LAPD Story
However, Cardi B’s team quickly came in and responded to the rapper’s tall tale.
“This IG live was taken out of context and there is no truth to this story. Apologies for any confusion,” the rapper’s team made in a statement to Billboard.
