How Do You Feel About Grocery Store Sushi?
How do you feel about “grocery store” sushi?
Sushi, in and of itself can be somewhat polarizing. I went the better part of my life wanting nothing to do with it. And I have no memory of how or why I tried it in the first place, but apparently at some point I did because I now enjoy it. I enjoy spicy tuna. Lisa likes California rolls…not really sushi. I’ve even gone as far as at a party at a friend’s house, when someone walked in with a hunk of raw ahi tuna and cut a piece off and threw it in their mouth, I thought, I’m up for that. Lisa was not amused.
It Doesn’t Have To Come From A Restaurant
So, most of the time, I have my sushi at a restaurant. But, over the last year or so, I’ve become fond of getting at the grocery store. Now, let me be specific. It’s at Fresh Market, and there is always someone there preparing it. They, on occasion, when what I wanted wasn’t available, would make it for me. I thought to myself, how is that any different that the chef that prepares it at the restaurant. It’s all of the same ingredients. There isn’t the variable of “cooking”, where one chef cooks something differently than another. It’s SUSHI! There’s no cooking involved. For my money, it’s the same thing. Oh, speaking of money, that’s the other thing. It’s less expensive in the grocery store than it is in a restaurant. That’s a plus.
Now, let me move on to another grocery store. Publix for instance, or Kroger. There are people at both stores preparing the sushi. Again, making it easy for me to accept purchasing it under those circumstances. I see no difference.
Where I Won’t Get My Sushi
Having said that, I’m not going to get my sushi from a convenience store. I gotta draw the line somewhere.
You know another place I draw the line? Sushi on sale. Nope!
So where do you stand on all of this?
How do you feel about grocery store sushi?
Do you like sushi?
Do you eat it on a regular basis?
Would you purchase it from a grocery store?
If not, why not!
This weekend, head to the store, get some chopsticks and have some sushi.
