Evans on Ice and Holiday Dates Announced in Columbia County
Evans on Ice Returning to Columbia County November 9
Chilly temperatures today remind you that the holidays aren’t that far away. Columbia County Parks, Recreation and Events has announced its lineup for special events this month and in December.
Evans on Ice is an expansive outdoor ice-skating rink that includes ice skating lessons, private parties, roasting marshmallows, light displays and movies in the park. It opens Thursday, November 9, at Evans Towne Center Park. Enjoy ice skating and holiday lights in the park Monday through Friday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm; Saturday from noon until 10:00 pm; and Sunday from noon until 9:00 pm. There will be a cozy fire pit operating on the weekends and holidays throughout the holiday season. Ticket prices range from $13 to $17 and are good for the entire day. Group discounts are available. Season passes are also available for $140 per person. They’re valid every day of the season through January 8. For more information, a complete schedule and purchasing tickets, go to www.evansonice.com.
Christmas Lights at Towne Center Park come on for all to enjoy starting November 20. That does not include the Christmas tree lighting, however.
Sip n Shop will bring holiday shopping to Evans Towne Center Park on November 30, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. There will be plenty of local artisans and vendors, in addition to holiday lights and skating.
Columbia County Christmas Tree Lighting will be December 3 and will include a holiday market, pictures with Santa, food vendors, live music and the lighting of the tree and fireworks at dark. The holiday market will be open from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Photos with Santa, live music and food vendors will be available from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Columbia County Christmas Parade, organized by the Columbia County Merchants Association, will also take place on December 3 starting at 3:00 pm.
Movie Night, featuring The Polar Express will be held at Evans Towne Center Park December 8 starting at 6:30 pm. Food vendors Toms Travelin Coffee and Black Lotus will be available.

2023 Holiday Decor Trends
One trend that I’m really into right now is using glass. It just adds a touch of elegance and makes your Christmas tree lights pop. Another trend that’s all about holiday glitz and glam involves using metallics like brass, chrome, and snazzy home accents.
When it comes to colors, warm tones like blush look great with traditional golds, silvers, and rich jewel tones. And if you’re more of a minimalist, you can stick to neutrals in your holiday decor.
