Survey Says; Aiken Is One Of The Least Safest Towns In The Country
A recently released survey of the “safest” and “least safest” cities and towns in the country finds our very own Aiken, South Carolina on the list. Unfortunately, it’s on the “least safe” list.
Here’s the list of the least safe cities and towns in the country:
- Pine Bluff, Arkansas
- Monroe, Louisiana
- Houma, Louisiana
- Alexandria, Louisana
- Wilmington, Delaware
- Texarkana, Texas
- Petersburg, Virginia
- Saginaw, Michigan
- Youngstown, Ohio
- Flint, Michigan
- Salisbury, North Carolina
- Portsmouth, Virginia
- AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA
- North Little Rock, Arkansas
- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Going in the other direction, according to the survey, here are the safest cities and/or towns in the country:
- Yorktown, New York
- Mason, Ohio
- Andover, Massachusetts
- Southlake, Texas
- Arlington, Maryland
- Princeton, New Jersey
- Hampden Township, Pennsylvania
- Carmel Hamlet, New York
- Needham, Massachusetts
- Greenwich, Connecticut
- Westfield, New Jersey
- Rexburg, Idaho
- Sammamish, Washington
- North Andover, Massachusetts
- White Lake Township, Michigan
The survey was done by Moneygeek. Experts are questioning the methodology of the survey. The first thing experts point to is that the information is from FBI data from 2021. 2021 was the first year the FBI fully transitioned to NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System), and because a larger share of agencies were not participating it resulted in lower quality national data. Some agencies only reported partial data.
