Georgia News: Plant Vogtle Unit 3 Enters Commercial Operation
Georgia Power announced on Twitter that “Today is a historical day!” As of today, Plant Vogtle Unit 3 has entered commercial operation. Unit 3 will serve Georgia Power customers and the State of Georgia.
This expansion at Plant Vogtle is part of Georgia Power’s efforts to build “a reliable and resilient energy future,” according to Kim Greene, chairman, president, and CEO of Georgia Power.
This is a long-term investment to help provide energy for decades to come. Plant Vogtle Unit 3 is the first newly-constructed nuclear unit here in the U.S. in over 30 years. It can provide power for around 500,000 homes and businesses. This is will the largest generator of clean energy in the nation.
