The choices to decide from can be endless. Even with those endless choices it seems a few families in South Carolina may have been thinking the same when it came to their babies’ names. Names.org recently released its findings. This study was based on Social Security Administration data on births and user intent on its website. The study gathered names for boys and girls, within each of the 50 states.
William ranks number one on the boys’ list. Followed by William are Noah and Liam. Olivia takes the first-place spot for the girls, followed by Ava and Charlotte.
Here is the full list of the 10 most popular names for boys and girls in South Carolina in 2023.

All these names included in the boys’ list – except for Asher, John, and Samuel – were also included in the top 10 national list of most popular baby names.
10 Most Popular Names for Girls in South Carolina in 2023:
- Olivia
- Ava
- Charlotte
- Amelia
- Emma
- Harper
- Isabella
- Elizabeth
- Evelyn
- Nova
All the names listed for the girls, also made the nation’s top 10 lists except Harper, Elizabeth, and Nova. Nova is new to the top 10 list for South Carolina.
