Janet Jackson & TLC Docs, Keyshia Cole Biopic Announced By A+E Networks
Thanks to A+E/Liftime, you’ll be able to watch new films based on the lives of three R&B stars. Janet Jackson and TLC will be getting new documentaries and Keyshia Cole will have a biopic coming to the network.
The network describes Janet Jackson: Family First as “the next chapter in Janet’s journey, in her own words and experiences with an exclusive, intimate, and honest look at her life, family, and legendary artistry,” per a press statement. Janet Jackson: Family First will follow the icon on her Together Again Tour which she is currently on the road for. Since she is still on tour a release date has yet to be determined.
R&B group TLC will also be getting a documentary, not to be confused with VH1’s 2013 biopic of the group CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. This time, Chilli and T-Boz will be telling their story in their own words. The two-hour documentary will be simulcast on Lifetime and A&E on Saturday, June 3 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Keyshia Cole will have a biopic coming to the network Keyshia Cole: This Is My Story. The singer will be playing herself in the film marking her acting debut. Her late mother, Frankie Lons, will be played by Debbi Morgan.
“This is a story of a daughter’s love for her mother and although my heart remains broken from her untimely passing, I am honored to be sharing it with the world,” said Cole, 41, in a statement per VIBE. “Playing the role of myself was a unique opportunity to re-live special moments in my life that also gave me the chance to process her loss in ways I did not expect. I miss her every day and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film. Mom, I love you.”
Not only are Keyshia fans getting a biopic that will show the star’s life, they will also hear a new song from the singer titled “Forever Is A Thing.” The biopic will debut on Saturday, June 24 at 8 p.m. ET on A+E.
