Pretty Ricky’s Baby Blue Arrested For Being In A $24 Million COVID-19 Loan Scam
Baby Blue Whoaaaa, also known as Baby Blue in the R&B group Pretty Ricky, is in some major hot water. According to XXL, the rapper is being accused of participating in a scam filing fake loans to obtain millions of dollars meant for small businesses due to COVID-19.
The outlet states, “According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Baby Blue, born Diamond Blue Smith, 36, and another man named Tonye C. Johnson, 28, were charged in federal criminal complaints filed in the Southern District of Florida on numerous fraud charges.”
“The men were hit with wire fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud after seeking more than $24 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans promised by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.”
Their also claiming he used false documents to receive an over $400,000 loan for his company, Throwbackjersey.com LLC. He also got another loan for Blue Star Records, LLC, for over $700,000.
Another shocking thing Baby Blue allegedly did: He bought a $96,000 Ferrari with the money. It was seized at the time of his arrest.
Over 90 fraudulent applications were completed during the scam and eleven other’s are involved in this case.
