YO MTV RAPS TURNS DIRTY 30!

he show that exposed people across the country to Hip-Hop, Yo! MTV Raps, premiered 30 years ago today – August 6th 1988.

  • MTV started showing a block of Hip-Hop videos, interviews and live performances that was hosted by Fab 5 Freddy on the weekends and Ed Lover and Dr. Dre during the week.
  • The show lasted until August 17, 1995. Despite efforts to bring launch another program like it, Yo! MTV Raps remains an icon of the culture.
