4 Off-The-Wall Ideas For Music Biopics
With the success of movies like ‘Straight Outta Compton,‘ it has to have crossed your mind what other movies could be made with the talent we have today.
We pulled together some ace casting ideas for some films that could (or should) be made, idolizing some of the best icons in Music. Once you see some of the crazy picks we’ve identified, you won’t be able to stop thinking about how cool they’d be.
Andre 3000 as Prince
Yes, we know that Andre 3000 already was in the Jimi Hendrix biopic, ‘Jimi: All Is by My Side,’ but who could deny that Andre would be the perfect Prince? Listening to “Roses” by OutKast, we can definitely hear the tones that would be perfect for some of Prince’s jams, including “Kiss.” The only caveat was if Prince’s estate would let the movie record Prince music, which would be the toss-up to making this happen.
Chris Tucker as Michael Jackson
Yes, there would be some controversy once Michael’s timeline would transition to skin-bleached Michael (i.e., Chris Tucker would have to have makeup done, which may cause some pushback), but let’s be real, it’s a lot better than the ‘Urban Myths’ casting that happened, that was so bad, it eventually was pulled. Plus, not only was Chris Tucker Michael’s friend, but he was in music videos with him and knows how to move and sing like him already. I’m sure with the right coaching, Paris Jackson would approve.
Logic as Eminem
Not that Eminem is old enough to be idolized in a biopic right now – and let’s face it, he kind of already did his own biopic with ‘8 Mile,’ but if anyone could do Eminem justice in terms of cadence, it would have to be Logic. You could make cases for G-Eazy, Machine Gun Kelly, or even Yelawolf, but none of them can drop bars as quickly as Eminem, plus he’s the underdog. While everyone’s making music in that group about drugs, partying, or guns, Logic is off the beaten path, not as mainstream as the rest, or looks more the part. The only hindrance, in this case, would be that Logic is bi-racial, which would put some people up in arms for Logic to be idolizing a “white rapper.” On the flipside, it might make the film that more interesting, because he can tackle both sides of prejudice, and have the “equal right” to challenge it. Now I’m curious to know what Logic would look like with blonde hair.
Marcc Rose as Tupac Shakur
Though Marcc Rose is an actor, not an actual rapper/musician, his quick performance in ‘Straight Outta Compton’ turned heads and may have actually type-casted him for the rest of his life. But c’mon, would you be that mad being a new actor, who’s getting paid to portray someone as great as Tupac Shakur? Can’t say he’d argue with that. Currently, he’s credited in filming ‘Unsolved’ which is his 2018 Tupac starring role. We’d like to see a full movie with this guy, despite how many times there’s been a Tupac biopic, and if you don’t know why and didn’t see ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ watch the clip above and judge for yourself.
