Summer has officially come to a wrap. The pumpkin spice drinks, warm soups, and hoodies are starting to make a seasonal comeback. If you are looking to wrap up the summer with some fun and bring in the fall with some fun, check out these things to do in Augusta this weekend, September 22-24.
September 23rd is the first official day of Fall.
To kick off the start of the new season this weekend is the Augusta Fall Wine Festival. This festival will be taking place on Sunday, September 24. The time of the event is 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm.
The event will include unlimited wine tastings, fall-flavored mimosa, and entertainment, arts, crafts, food trucks, and vendors. It will take place at the Gracewood Manor. The event is for those who are 21 and up. No pets or kids allowed.
Not only is this the moment to explore different wines but it is also a chance to give back. This event will help benefit local kids and women with AIDS/HIV.
While many people think the fall is just for red wine it’s not, it’s also for white wine.
Here are eight wines that you should be on the lookout for this weekend and beyond:
Semillon – An example of this is Bordeaux Blanc. This is a white wine that features aromas of white flowers and lemon.
Marsanne/Roussanne – Le Paradis Saint-Pierre is an example of this. It has the smell of honey flavors, but when tasting, it has a taste of mineral and fresh.
Barbera – This wine has the aroma of blackberries and spicy notes.
Dolcetto – This has the aroma of fruit and herbs.
Carignan – Orzada Carignan has the aromas of red fruit like strawberries and plums.
Grenache – This red wine has flavorful tones of red plums.
Rhone – Similar to Granche, this wine has plum flavors along with cherry.
Cabernet Franc – This wine is described as powerful, with aromas of black cherry compote and spice dried tomato.
But again this weekend isn’t all about wine! There’s more. Check out the events below (kid friendly and pet friendly) to see what you else to do this weekend, as we officially wrap up summer and fall into fall.
