Richmond County Schools – Mask Optional Starting Tuesday
An announcement has been posted on the Richmond County Board of Education website regarding the schools’ mask policies. Starting Tuesday, masks will be optional. The message posted on their website says the current spread rate of COVID-19 in the community is at 8 percent and trending downwards. With those numbers and guidance from local partners, masks can now be optional for the Richmond County School System starting Tuesday, March 1. However, due to federal transportation mandates, masks will still be required by bus drivers and any passengers on the busses. RCSS will continue monitoring the COVID protocols and if needed, may revise the mask policy at any point. They also will continue their COVID response strategies. See the RCBOE website for the full statement. This announcement marks the second this week regarding COVID restrictions in local schools. Aiken County announced they are relaxing restrictions as of March 1, after SCDHEC updated guidelines. More on that HERE.
