  • Teen Sought in Shooting Incident

    SHOTS WERE FIRED INTO A HOME ON ROME WAY IN RICHMOND COUNTY EARLIER THIS WEEK…AND NOW AUTHORITIES ARE LOOKING FOR A LOCAL TEENAGER IN CONNECTION WITH THE INCIDENT.

    A WOMAN TOLD INVESTIGATORS SHE HEARD TWO PEOPLE ARGUING DOWN THE STREET, FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL GUNSHOTS.  SHE SAID AT LEAST ONE OF THE BULLETS CAME THROUGH HER HOME…STRIKING A WALL IN A HALLWAY.  NO ONE WAS INJURED.

    INVESTIGATORS ARE NOW LOOKING FOR 18 YEAR OLD THADEUS LEVERETT JR. IN CONNECTION WITH THE INCIDENT.

    HE’S BLACK, FIVE-TEN AND WEIGHS 150 POUNDS.  LEVERETT IS KNOWN TO FREQUENT THE BARTON VILLAGE AREA AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

  • Teen Wanted for Aggravated Assault

    A TEENAGER DESCRIBED AS ARMED AND DANGEROUS IS WANTED IN RICHMOND COUNTY.

    AUTHORITIES SAY 17 YEAR OLD JAYVEN WARD IS WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH AN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT THAT TOOK PLACE MONDAY IN THE 800 BLOCK OF SPRUCE STREET.

    WARD IS BLACK, 5”9 AND 120 POUNDS.  HE’S OFTEN SEEN IN THE SPRUCE STREET AREA AND IS ALSO SEEN IN WAYNESBORO.  CALL THE RICHMOND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION.

  • Mayoral Race in Wagener

    A RULING IS EXPECTED SHORTLY IN A CONTESTED MAYORAL RACE IN WAGENER.

    THE RUNNER-UP IN THAT RACE, TRAVIS KENNEDY, LOST TO INCUMBENT MIKE MILLER BY ONLY SEVEN VOTES, BUT FILED A PROTEST CLAIMING THE THIRD CANDIDATE, CHRISTOPHER SALLEY, WAS INELIGIBLE TO RUN BECAUSE HE DIDN’T LIVE IN WAGENER.

    COUNTY ELECTION OFFICIALS UPHELD THE VOTE RESULTS, BUT THE MATTER ENDED UP IN COURT TUESDAY WHERE CIRCUIT JUDGE COURTNEY CLYBURN POPE PROMISED A RULING SOON.

  • Roadwork in Columbia County

    COLUMBIA COUNTY DRIVERS ARE URGED TO FIND A NEW ROUTE THURSDAY IF YOUR COMMUTE NORMALLY TAKES YOU DOWN WILLIAM FEW PARKWAY.

    ROADS AND BRIDGES CREWS WILL BE WORKING ON WILLIAM FEW FROM THE 1800 BLOCK TO THE INTERSECTION WITH CHAMBLIN ROAD.

    THAT WILL FORCE THE CLOSURE OF AN EASTBOUND LANE AND TRAFFIC SHIFT ON WILLIAM FEW FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL 3:00 P.M. WHILE CREWS ARE WORKING.

  • Search For New City Administrator

    THE SEARCH WILL BE ON, ONCE AGAIN, FOR A CITY ADMINISTRATOR IN AUGUSTA.

    ODIE DONALD, WHO HAS BEEN IN THE POSITION FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR FOLLOWING THE RESIGNATION OF JANICE JACKSON, HAS TOLD AUGUSTA COMMISSIONERS HE’S ACCEPTED ANOTHER POSITION AND IS LEAVING.

    NO WORD ON WHERE HE’LL BE GOING.

    DONALD WILL REPORTEDLY LEAVE HIS JOB HERE ON FEBRUARY 25TH.

    THE COUNTDOWN TO MASTERS WEEK IS ON.

    THE AUGUSTA NATIONAL GOLF CLUB IS HOLDING JOB FAIRS THIS THURSDAY AND SATURDAY, LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO WORK THE ENTIRE WEEK OF THE TOURNAMENT THE FIRST FULL WEEK IN APRIL.

    A NEWS RELEASE SAYS THEY’RE LOOKING FOR RESTROOM ATTENDANTS, OVERNIGHT SANDWICH PREPPERS, LINE COOKS, AND KITCHEN STEWARDS IN CHARGE OF DISHWASHING AND RESTOCKING.

    THE JOB FAIRS WILL BE HELD THURSDAY FROM 2:00 TO 6:00 P.M. AND SATURDAY FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL 1:00 P.M. AT 2505 WASHINGTON ROAD, SUITE K.
