Trader Joe's will open a grocery store in Evans, Georgia. This marks the first spot for the chain in the Central Savannah River Area.

The new store will serve an area that stretches about 75 miles in every direction. Columbia holds the closest current spot, with Athens hosting another nearby.

The California-based grocer started in Pasadena back in 1967. The chain built its name by offering inventory that mixes everyday staples with hard-to-find items.

Evans becomes the newest Georgia city to get this specialty grocer. The CSRA region hasn't had one within its borders until now.

This announcement arrives as the company keeps growing across the Southeast. Officials released no details about store size or potential hires.

People in the area have traveled long distances to shop at existing spots. Columbia's store has been the go-to option for CSRA shoppers.

The grocer runs hundreds of stores across America. Each spot stocks private-label products mixed with select national brands.

Adding this grocery chain to Evans changes things for shoppers here. Getting these products meant leaving the CSRA, until now.
