Five Below Opens at Edgewood Square as North Augusta Shopping Center Grows

Three more big-name stores, Marshalls, Burlington, and Ulta Beauty, should debut around September or October.

Five Below has opened at Edgewood Square in North Augusta. It's the first arrival. Three more big-name stores, Marshalls, Burlington, and Ulta Beauty, should debut around September or October.

The discount chain prices most items from $1 to $5. Started in 2002, it's grown to over 1,900 locations across 46 states, according to The Post and Courier.

Edgewood Square has gotten a makeover during the past two years. Hobby Lobby got announced for the center back in February 2024, then flung open its doors before that year wrapped up.

The center isn't maxed out yet. Two spots remain vacant and ready for tenants.

One empty space spans 10,000 square feet. The other is just 3,000.

This growth wave reflects how chains are eyeing smaller towns. North Augusta sits right across the Savannah River from Augusta, Georgia.

Five Below bills itself as a destination "for the kid and the kid in all of us." Young buyers and families hunting bargains make up its core crowd.

The center's makeover kicked off when developers landed Hobby Lobby two years back. That deal sparked a domino effect, pulling in other national players.

Construction crews keep working as they prep spaces for the trio of fall launches. The phased rollout lets the center stay open while welcoming fresh faces.

Coastal Equities oversees the property and scouts for new lessees. The company has aimed to recruit stores that mesh well with current occupants.
