Augusta Fire Department Schedules Community Meetings on Three-Year Strategic Plan
The Augusta Fire Department is hosting community meetings to discuss their three-year strategic plan of emergency response goals.

Augusta Commission greenlit a three-year blueprint for the Augusta Fire Department on Tuesday. It maps out goals tied to emergency response, boosting how services work over time.
Four public gatherings will happen in March. Residents can learn what's in the plan and share their thoughts. Fire Chief Antonio Burden will run these sessions at different stations scattered around town.
The first gathering is on March 9 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Fire Station 2, located at 928 Telfair Street. A second one rolls out on March 12, running from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station 8 on 1898 Highland Avenue.
March 16 brings the third one, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Fire Station 20 on 2820 Old Highway 1 Avenue. The last gathering lands March 19, same time window, at Fire Station 15 on 1420 Flowing Wells Road.
This blueprint spans three years and tackles big chunks of what the department does day-to-day. Quick emergency response is one target. Keeping the community safer by stopping problems before they start is another big piece of the puzzle.
Getting firefighters trained and prepared gets its own attention. Planning for stations, trucks, and gear matters too. So does making sure services run better as years pass.
