Looks like some potential new things to do are coming to Augusta. But, when? Augusta commissioners are continuing with plans for a water park in South Augusta. But the location and timeline are a bit confusing.

WRDW reports that the city has set aside $5 million in taxpayer money to help develop the project. The water park will be an additional activity to bring to the area. The city is hoping to recruit a private company to contribute additional money and operate the park.

The water park is still in its early planning phase, but residents cannot wait for the new addition. The funding was approved in 2021, but still, no location or timeline has been confirmed.

"South Augusta is hungry, we are hungry for some change, for some improvement, for something coming to South Augusta," said Frank Howard to WRDW. Howard is a resident near the Diamond Lakes Park area.

Although plans are still uncertain, many want the quality to be the best. Residents hope that the water park will fit an expectation for the Augusta community.
