Chris Brown Files $500 Million Lawsuit Against Warner Bros. Over Documentary
Chris Brown hit Warner Bros. with a huge $500 million lawsuit, saying their new documentary series hurt his reputation and caused deep emotional distress.
The R&B star’s legal challenge targets “Chris Brown: A History of Violence,” which features sexual assault claims from multiple women. His lawyer, Levi McCathern, said in an interview, that their goal “to protect the truth” against what he called “false and defamatory” content.
Chris Brown Files Lawsuit Over New Documentary
Court papers say the film wrongly painted him as a predator, even though he’s never been convicted of sex crimes. The suit focuses on one key accuser – Jane Doe – who alleged assault in 2020. However, court records show Doe had her own record of violent behavior.
In 2022, a judge dismissed Doe’s $20 million case against Brown. The case failed because of a “lack of prosecution.”
According to the lawsuit, the documentary has hurt his business deals and career prospects. Brown’s team points to his 2017 film to show how he’s changed since his 2009 incidents. If he wins, Brown intends to give some of the money to help abuse survivors. His team is asking for a jury trial.
The lawsuit mentions his previous legal issues – including a guilty plea from 2009, and 2019 allegations from Paris that French police eventually dropped without charges.
The suit claims Warner Bros. used unreliable stories to get better ratings and make more money. The studio hasn’t responded to these claims yet.
