Our Predictions for Oscar 2025 Nominations

Now that the Golden Globes are over, fans are eagerly waiting to see if their favorite movies and actors will get an Oscar nominations. With January 17 almost here (when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will officially announce the nominations for the 97th Academy Awards), it’s time to break out the bingo cards as we predict who will be nominated for these golden statues. 

Based on early buzz, critics' reviews, and accolades from other award-giving bodies (and our gut), here are our predictions for the Oscar 2025 nominations.  

With Demi Moore winning the Golden Globes for Best Actress Musical/Comedy for The Substance, her chances of getting nominated for the Oscar 2025 are very likely. We think Karla Sofía Gascón will also be nominated since their movie, Emilia Pérez also took home several awards during the Golden Globes and she won Best Actress Award during the Cannes Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Santa Barbara International Film Festival.  

Mikey Madison will also get a nomination. She won several Best Actress Awards from several film festivals and critics associations for her role in Anora. Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) will also get an Oscar nomination after winning the Golden Globes for Best Actress Drama. Of course, veteran actresses like Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman also have good chances to be nominated. We’re also hoping Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo gets a nom.  

Adrien Brody will be nominated since he won the Golden Globes for Best Actor Drama for The Brutalist; he previously won the Academy for Best Actor in 2002 for The Pianist. Conclave’s Ralph Fiennes is also a strong contender as is Daniel Craig, and Sebastian Stan who got nominated for the Golden Globes in two categories. We also predict Timothée Chalamet will be nominated for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown and Colman Domingo of Sing Sing.  

We believe Zoe Saldaña will also get a nomination after winning the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress as well as other film festivals and critics association awards for her portrayal of a lawyer in the movie Emilia Pérez. We also predict an Oscar nomination for Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez) and Elle Fanning (A Complete Unknown).  

We’re hoping Kieran Culkin, who won the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain also gets a nomination, as well as Stanley Tucci for Conclave, Peter Sarsgaard for September 5 and Edward Norton for A Complete Unknown.

The 97th Oscars will take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood. The event will be broadcast live on ABC and streamed on Hulu.
