Cheesesteak Chain Signs Deals For New Georgia And South Carolina Locations
A cheesesteak chain has recently signed deals to add new locations in both Georgia and South Carolina. Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks was founded right here in the state of Georgia. Derrick Hayes established the first location in a gas station in Dunwoody, Georgia back in 2014.
The cheesesteak chain is planning massive expansion, not just in Georgia and South Carolina. Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks has 10 locations planned in Florida as well.
As for the expansion in South Carolina, the development is being led by Marc and Kiera Brown and Frank and Courtney Williams. The group has secured a 1,600 square foot location in Columbia’s Five Points District. Altogether, the team plans to to develop five locations in South Carolina. Maybe Aiken will wind up being one of those locations chosen.
And when it comes to additional locations in Georgia, it seems they signed a lease for a new flagship location near Centenniel Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. So far, there are no details on additional locations, but Augusta could be a prime spot.
These additional locations for Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks is a sign of major growth. It was just back in May 2024 that the brand expanded with their first out-of-state location in Charlotte, North Carolina. Now with Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida in the works, it seems this cheesesteak chain is on a roll (pun intended)!
About Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks
When you think of cheesesteaks, you might think of Philadelphia. And Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, while it originated in Dunwoody, Georgia, does have a connection to Philly. Derrick Hayes, the founder, was born and raised in West Philadelphia. He spent many years in the kitchen with his grandfather gaining culinary skills. Once he relocated to Atlanta, Hayes mssed the traditional cheesesteaks he knew and loved in Philly. That’s when he set out to bring that taste to his new home. In 2014, the original location, named Dave’s Philly Water Ice, was established in a Shell gas station. It later became Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, which was named after his late father.
The brand has grown in the past 10 years, and now has locations in downtown Atlanta, Doraville, Forest Park, and Lawrenceville. In addition, they have a location inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, along with a food truck.
