Busta Rhymes Teases New 'Not Like Us' Verse

Did Busta Rhymes take a side in the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake? Some fans would say so. Recently Busta Rhymes teased an unreleased remix to Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

The artist took the stage at Essence Festival in New Orleans, LA on Friday (July 5) and teased fans with a version of “Not Like Us.” Before he left the stage, he promised the crowd that he would be seen again. Then, his DJ cued up a “Not Like Us” with Busta Rhymes featured on the bars.

Busta Rhymes Had More to Say

While the rapper’s teaser made for a great gift for fans, he wasn’t too pleased with the Essence Festival audience during his set. He even stopped his performance to address the fans in attendance who weren’t paying attention.

In the video, he said “Ayo, f--- them camera phones, too. Let’s get back to interacting like humans. Put them weird-a-- devices down. I ain’t from that era. Them s---s don’t control the soul. F--- your phone.”

He also offered up a threat, adding: “I will point every last one of y’all out until y’all a--es is up.”

Rhymes also doubled down on his position saying, “Thirty-three years of doing this s---, I ain’t used to n----s sitting down at my show. I don’t give a f---! All age groups, get you’re a-- up now.”

Let’s hope that Busta Rhymes isn’t getting that same energy while on tour with Missy Elliott, Ciara, and Timbaland. In April Missy Elliott announced dates for her first-ever headlining tour.

Last month, it was revealed that Busta Rhymes and the late Prince are set to be honored with their own stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Organizers revealed its Class of 2025, with The Isley Brothers, Jane Fonda, Nia Long, David Beckham, and Green Day among the many entertainers in line to receive a star next year.

Busta Rhymes celebrated the news on Instagram, writing, “AS YOU WILL CONTINUE TO HEAR IT FROM ME EVERY SINGLE DAY, THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WILL NEVER EVER STOP!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH CHOOSING ME TO BE BLESSED WITH SUCH A PRESTIGIOUS ACCOLADE SUCH AS THE HOLLYWOOD STAR ON THE @hwdwalkoffame.”
