Letitia Wright Hints At Shuri’s Return As Black Panther
As a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, I would love nothing more than to see a third installment of Black Panther. Actress Letitia Wright gave fans a teaser of a possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise her role of Shuri.
Wright made an appearance on The View to promote her latest movie, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, and she was asked about her future in the MCU.
“There are some new Avenger movies on the horizon, and everyone wants to know if Shuri will be making another appearance in the Marvel universe. We need it,” Sunny Hostin asked.
Wright carefully chose her words while answering, saying, “If it’s, uh, let’s just say, let’s just say… I would like to continue with Shuri. She’s one of my favorite characters, such a blessing, honestly, I kid you not. I’m so grateful for her.”
When asked if a third installment of Black Panther was in the works, Wright teased, “There’s a lot coming up.”
In January 2023, Wright told Variety that a third Black Panther film was in the works, though nothing formal has been announced by Marvel. “I think it’s already in the works…It’s gonna take a while, but really excited for you guys to see that” said Wright.

Fans are here for the return of Shuri in Black Panther
Many fans are thrilled about the possibility of a return. Fans took to The View’s comments to share their thoughts. “Letitia carried on Chad’s legacy proudly as Shuri. He’d be proud of her,” one person said.
Another person shared, “Excited to possibly hear we will be getting More Letitia as Shuri as BLACK PANTHER! Still hurts to know Chadwick is gone but she has done a great job stepping in for him and she deserves more in the marvel universe…”
Wright debuted as Shuri, the tech-savvy teenage sister of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), in Ryan Coogler’s 2018 film Black Panther. She continued to portray the Princess of Wakanda in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Following Chadwick Boseman’s passing, Wright took on a more prominent role in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, becoming the Black Panther.
Marvel has Avengers 5 scheduled for release in May 2026, which could potentially be a film in which Wright could reprise her role as Shuri. The studio also has Avengers: Secret Wars set for release on May 7, 2027.
