Easy Summer Makeup Trends to Try
Summer is officially here, and there are some new summer makeup trends to get on your radar. So, where do these trends originate? In today’s world, most makeup and fashion trends start out on social media, with influencers and celebrities toting new looks. People such as Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner and the Kardashians have a major influence on makeup and fashion in today’s culture. What’s good is that many summer makeup trends can be achieved on the cheap. So, let’s get into these summer makeup trends you can try right now.
Summer Makeup Trends
The makeup experts at Byrdie.com say one of the biggest trends of the season is “hypershine.” They interviewed expert celebrity makeup artist Kasey Spickard, who says, “However, I really think that there are some fun hacks and new formulas that actually make this trend wearable. And we know a dewy, wet, glossy look is perfect for summer.” As for budget-friendly makeup items to give you that shine, Spickard suggests Maybelline’s SuperStay Vinyl Ink, which she calls “a high shine liquid lipstick formula that people on TikTok have started putting on their eyes for non-creasing, glossy lids.” So, that’s a duel-action product. I personally love the Victoria’s Secret flavored lip gloss, which has lots of shine and also isn’t very expensive.
Orange blush is another summer makeup trend, according to Elle.com. That might sound odd, but orange blush goes well with a tan. I’m guilty of sporting bronzer with pink blush and know it doesn’t always work out ideally. Elle.com notes, “Vibrant orange hues spark memories of summer sunsets and sipping Aperol spritz poolside, and the spring/summer 2024 runway shows prove that orange blush is going to be everywhere this season.” They add that peach or orange blush “looks great on all skin tones and brings a touch of radiance and warmth to your makeup look that’ll make you feel like you’re vacationing on a tropical beach no matter where you are.” Almost any drugstore brand of makeup has orange or peach blush, so this is another item you can get on the cheap.
Finally, another hot summer look is matte, smokey eyes, according the the experts at Cosmopolitan.com. They note that a grungy eye look has been all over the runways, and celebrities are also sporting the smokey eye look. To get this look, just get a simple eyeshadow palate with dark colors, apply and blend. Here are some of my favorites. They note that Demi Lovato pulls off this look very well.
Now, if you’re going to sweat a lot outside, then I suggest you go light on the makeup. Make sure to protect your skin from the sun with sunblock or a foundation that has sunblock, but no need for tons of mascara and heavy eyeliners. Here’s my summer look below.
