A New Restaurant Concept Is In The Works For Former Sunshine Bakery Location In Downtown Augusta
Sunshine Bakery, a former restaurant in Downtown Augusta, closed back in 2020 in the heat of the pandemic.
Now after 3 years, the building may become home to another restaurant.
Sunshine Bakery was known not only for the pastries but also for its savory soups. The latest owner was Gene Gurley until the restaurant closed in 2020.
Jordan Trotter Commercial Real Estate and Fat Man’s Hospitality Group may be bringing a BBQ concept to the old bakery location.
Fat Man’s Hospitality Group is hoping to continue on the legacy of the Sunshine Bakery and hopes the new concept will fit right in the collection of downtown restaurants.
While it is certain a new restaurant will be coming to town, it is not certain if it will be a BBQ spot, but according to Havird Usry, with the Fat Man’s Hospitality Group, it will be “smokin’ good!”
The exact plans for the location have not yet been released.
