Jay-Z Explains Meaning Behind Roc Nation Hand Sign
Jay-Z is finally explaining what the icon “diamond” hand sign he has been seen throwing over the years means. In an interview with CBS Mornings’ Gayle King, he explained that the hand sign had to do with a group he managed called Christion.
“When you sell 10 million, you go diamond, right? We believed in them so heavy, we was like, this group is going to sell 10 million records,” Jay said recollecting how the hand sign came about.
After they started doing it at shows and then the crowd began mimicking them it just stuck.

The Roc Nation hand sign is not the only subject Jay discussed during his interview with King. In a clip from last week, the Grammy winner said that he is not ready to throw in the towel when it comes to making new music. He said that he would be open to creating a new project under one condition.
He said that his next project has to “mean something to a larger society.”
“I already [used the word ‘retirement’], I can’t do that ever again,” he said. “I’ll say I wanna make music, but it has to be something important.”
He spoke to Kevin Hart last year on the comedian’s Peacock show Hart to Heart about his 2003 retirement announcement. The rapper said that he never wanted to use that word again.
“I’m not actively making music or making an album or have plans to make an album, but I never want to say that I’m retired. It’s a gift, so who am I to shut it off?” he told the comedian.
Jay’s last album was 4:44, which was released in 2017. The album was nominated for eight Grammys including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, and Song Of The Year.
