Bamberg, SC native Warren Peay was eliminated in the Top 8 round of American Idol on Sunday night.

One local, American Idol, contestant is taking it all in after being back home after making it to the top 8. Warren Peay was known on the show for his Southern rock sound. Throughout the competition, he always stayed true to his humble country boy persona that his friends and family knew.

Now being back home in Bamberg, South Carolina, Peay has had a chance to reflect on his life-changing experience. Before going on the show, the 24-year-old worked as an appliance technician.

“This has been such an incredible journey, and I am proud to be a part of ‘American Idol’ season 21! Thank God for this opportunity, and thank you to all who have voted and supported me this season!” said Peay on Facebook after Sunday’s show.

Even though his American Idol journey is over, his music journey is still well on its way. Peay will be performing at shows and releasing new music.
