The New York rapper was hospitalized on Tuesday (March 21) after he was ambushed by men in a sauna at LA Fitness, 6ix9ine’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, told TMZ at the time. Lazzaro told the outlet that the rapper did not have security with him at the time of the attack and did his best to fight off the men.
The New York native suffered injuries to his jaw, ribs, and back. In the video obtained by TMZ, you can also see gashes on his face from the attack.
Although his attorney suggested that he gets protection, it was later reported that 6ix9ine will not be beefing up his security or moving away from the Sunshine State.
“He wants to continue to live as normal a life as possible and is chalking up the gym beatdown as an outlier,” a source told TMZ.
Prior to this incident, “He’s been going out in public without security over the last year without an issue,” the source claimed.
Ultimately, the source declared, “he’s not going to let one incident change the way he lives.”
Tekashi’s attack has not been linked to his former plea deal. In 2019, the rapper was sentenced to two years in prison for his role in the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang. He faced decades on racketeering charges until he began cooperating with authorities. He landed a plea deal that ultimately put his former Bloods associates behind bars.
