LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - SEPTEMBER 25: Takeoff of Migos performs onstage during Global Citizen Live on September 25, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

The murder suspect in Takeoff’s death has been released on a $1 million bond. According to the Houston Chronicle, Patrick Clark, who was taken into custody last December, posted a $1 million bond on Wednesday (Jan. 4). Clark is required to wear a GPS tracker while on house arrest and cannot own a firearm or use drugs or alcohol. He will also undergo drug testing to ensure he tests negative.

According to the outlet, Clark’s next court date is scheduled for March 9. He is facing a murder charge for the November shooting. He allegedly fired a gun following an argument at a Houston bowling alley. Reportedly, there is an ongoing investigation that found Clark’s rounds were the ones that fatally hit Takeoff. However, others were also shooting at the time.

Clark’s attorney revealed that he could claim self-defense in the case and implied that he started shooting because someone else began shooting at him.

His bail was originally set at $2 million but was later reduced to $1 million. Clark’s attorneys argued that the original bond amount was excessive and went against the Texas Constitution, the local news outlet reports. They also argued that Clark’s family couldn’t afford the $2 million bond. Texas Constitution mandates that all prisoners shall be provided sufficient but not excessive bail.
