CSRA News: School Year Coming to an End
The School year is quickly coming to an end for several area school districts.
This Friday, May 20, is the last day of school for students in Burke and Lincoln Counties. Students in both districts will have early release.
Next Tuesday, May 24, is the last day for Richmond County students; Wednesday is the last day in Columbia County; and next Thursday marks the end of the school year in McDuffie County. It will be an early release day at all schools in those counties as well.
The school year doesn’t end until June 2 for students in Aiken and Edgefield Counties.
In addition, it’s a historic end to the school year for Westmont Elementary Students and staff in Columbia County. The school, which marked its 50th anniversary this year, is closing to make way for a new state-of-the-art facility on the same site. Students will be relocated to nearby schools until the new building is open. Members of the Evans High School Class of 2022, who attended Westmont Elementary, will walk through the hallways of the school during a final graduation “clap-out” tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
The public is invited to attend a special celebration Monday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. to commemorate the school’s last 50 years.
