Mariah Carey Responds to Bar That Bans ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’
The Christmas queen Mariah Carey has spoken… but by announcing the day after Halloween that the holiday season has begun, she may have lured a few critics.
If you live on earth, you should expect to hear her holiday “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” often, from now through December 25. But some people aren’t quite ready to hear the classic jam over and over. We saw that play out on Twitter, where a bar in Dallas, Texas stated very specific rules in regard to the song: “Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ WILL BE SKIPPED IF PLAYED BEFORE DEC 1. After Dec 1 the song is only allowed one time a night.”

The viral photo of the bar’s sign went even more viral after another Twitter user reposted it with the caption: “is this the war on Christmas I’ve heard about?” This version of the post made its way to Carey, 52, who hilariously posted a still from her Game of War ad.

As for the Dallas bar that started this, the general manager told CNN that she doesn’t “hate Mariah Carey and I don’t hate Christmas,” but that Carey’s song always gets played a bit too frequently, driving the staff bonkers. And the sign, which she said was intended to be lighthearted, had been put up in the bar for the last few years.
But she, and her staff, may want to avoid Carey on social media. On November 1, the singer posted a video of herself in her most sparkly holiday garb smashing jack-o’-lanterns that read: “IT’S NOT TIME” with a candy cane bat to let the masses know it is time to get in the holiday spirit.
