Tracy Chapman is suing Nicki Minaj.

First off, if you don’t know who Tracy Chapman is, she is responsible for the mega-hit, Fast Car.

" I had a feeling that I could be someone, be someone, be someone... "... 30 years ago Tracy Chapman released #fastcar! . #tracychapmandebutalbum30 #tracychapman

Okay now back to the story.

A while back, before the release of Nicki’s album, Queen, she tweeted out that she was waiting on approval for a song that had a Tracy Chapman sample in it, and also featured Nas. The record was titled, Sorry.

#Queen becomes my 4th Platinum album in the US this week. Thank you guys for your love & support. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project in any way. To God be the glory. ♥️

She asked her fans if she should push the release date back in order to have Sorry on the album or scratch the record and release the album on time because Nicki’s team was receiving no response from Tracy Chapman or her management.

She decided to take Sorry off the album and release it on time, but recently, a radio station played the record and now Chapman is suing Nicki.

According to TMZ, Chapman is suing to obtain a court order barring Nicki from releasing Sorry ever again and for some cash.

Chapman will probably win the settlement due to the situation, but I’m eager to see if Nicki tries to fight this at all.
