As Hurricane Michael continues to travel inland, thousands of people are already without power in Georgia.

The storm struck the Florida panhandle this afternoon, and with a strong storm surge and 155 mile per hour winds, it left a trail of destruction behind.

According to CNN, Hurricane Michael is now a Category 3 storm, with winds dropping to 125 miles per hour.

The CSRA is expected to feel the effects of Michael this evening into tomorrow morning.

According to WRDW, a 5:40 p.m. update indicates that close to 54,000 people have lost power in Georgia.

In preparation for a power outage, get those cell phones plugged in now and make a list of important numbers.

You’ll need them in the event the power is out for an extended period of time and your phone battery dies.
