Seriously, some of these threw us for a loop.

Until Zoe Saldana hit the films Avatar and Star Trek, I had no clue who she was. But after reviewing her film history, it’s safe to say that this actress was hiding in plain sight. Now, the birthday girl, who is a lead character in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, can look back on her starting roles and be very pleased with how far she’s come.

Check out the top five roles we loved from her:

Center Stage (2000)

Eva is the wise-cracking, profanity playing ballerina and we’re all for it.

Get Over It (2001)

Typical teen movie support system is Zoe in this role, but Kirsten Dunst, Shane West, Mila Kunis and… Sisqo?

Crossroads (2002)

The self-centered, LA bound girl who is too “popular” to save her life. Obviously, they work it all out and become BFFs, but not at this particular moment.

Drumline (2002)

Zoe can steppppp it!

Pirates Of The Carribean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl (2003)

She got to slap Johnny Depp, which is an honor only a few on the set of POTC: Black Pearl can say, and she actually got to do it twice (that we know of). #SlayQueen
